Reason for celebrating with a baby shower
One good point to keep in mind is that a baby shower marks a once-in-a-lifetime event. Regardless of the expectant parents’ ages, circumstances, and even if they already have other children, this baby shower is to specifically celebrate the birth of this one child. Sometimes people have the tendency to believe that if a couple already has children, a shower for a new baby is not as necessary or as important– but this is not true at all. This one unique individual child will be making his or her appearance into the world only once– and that is certainly a very good reason to make his or her “welcoming party” as unique and as special as possible!
It does not matter if this is the couple’s fourth child or their first child; it does not matter if the expectant parent is a single mother. It isn’t relevant whether they are newlyweds or having a child in their later years. The key point to keep in mind, however, is that the settings and the degree of extravagance are far less important in the long run– what will be remembered for a lifetime is the special atmosphere of celebration and the participation of the people who are taking part in this lovely occasion.
Regardless of your role in the baby shower, keep in mind that the purpose is to mark one of the most important events in the expectant parents’ lives. Give them a day or an evening which will stand out in their memories– it is not about the gifts or the refreshments, it is about the once-in-a-lifetime experience of welcoming this special little baby into the world!
